How to calculate the power supply Quantity required for LED display?
With the application of LED display more and more widely, the electrical parameters of LED display is also more and more attention and concern by consumers. We all know that the LED display is spliced from one LED module to another, and the back of the screen is connected to the LED power supply, and then connected to the power line and signal line. So how to calculate the number of LED display power supply?

First, we have to measure the current of a single LED module.

We all know that the LED display module is processed and produced by a combination of raw materials such as LED lamp beads, PCB circuit boards, IC, kits, etc. The working principle of the LED display module is that the constant current IC drives the light-emitting chips within the LED lamp beads to display colors. From the display color, LED display module distinguish single-color, dual-color, full-color three types. From the scope of application, LED module distinguish indoor module and outdoor module.

Generally speaking, full-color LED module current, single and dual-color LED module current is relatively small, outdoor LED module current is large, indoor LED module current is relatively small. But the factory in the debugging LED module “white balance”, conventional single LED display module working current is generally below 10A.

We can use a multimeter into the circuit to measure the actual parameters of the LED module current. Today we take P10-4S outdoor LED display module as an example, step by step to explain how to measure the module current parameters.

The first step, prepare equipment and goods

We prepare a few P10-4S outdoor LED display module, a multimeter (can measure the current within 10A DC), a number of wires, electrical tape, wire strippers, LED display control card, LED display power supply.

The second step, the correct connection

In this measurement experiment, we will use the multimeter as a DC ammeter to use. The maximum range of DC current measurement multimeter for 10 A. We will be connected in series with the multimeter into the LED module circuit, the specific wiring order:

1. AC 220V

LED power supply (equivalent to the role of the transformer, the 220V AC transformer output for 5V DC) the input terminal

2. Positive from the output terminal to connect a line to the multimeter red line pen (positive)

3. Red wire inserted into the multimeter on the red “10A” hole

4. Connect the black wire pen to the red wire (positive) of the module power cord.

5. Module power cord normally plugged into the module

6. Module power cord of the black wire (negative) back to the negative LED power output.

The third step, measurement readings

We see, when plugged into the input power socket, the entire LED display is lit, a single module current is not very large, with the changes in the content of the playback, the reading on the multimeter also fluctuates, basically maintained at 1-2 A. Specific video can be viewed:

We press the test key on the control card to switch the state of the screen to get the following experimental data:

1. “Play all white” current is the largest, about 5.8A
2. Red and green state current in 3.3A
3. Blue state current is 2.0A
4. Cut back to the normal playback program content current fluctuations between 1-2A.

Now we can calculate the results of the above measurements of a LED power supply can carry a few LED modules.

Specific calculation method is: each LED power supply is essentially a transformer, to our commonly used 200W power supply, for example, the manufacturer gives the load parameters for the “output 5V40A”, “effective conversion rate of 88%.

We are based on
According to our calculations, we know that when the LED module is not more than 6, the LED power supply is not overloaded. And we calculate the current for the LED module all-white maximum current, and normal playback of the operating current is often only 1/3-1/2 of the maximum current, so the maximum current calculated in accordance with the number of loaded for the number of safe load.

Then a large LED display screen by how many LED modules spliced together, and then divided by the number of security belt load, that is, you can get a piece of LED display using a number of LED power.
